TORRE PEDRERA:
The resort takes its name
from an ancient tower that was built here in 1673, commissioned by the
Pope. The settlement was built at the mouth of an old, dried-up river
from whose bed the inhabitants extracted stones to build their homes. It
was thus, given the name “Torre della Pedriera”. From its very
beginning, it was of great importance due to its control of maritime
activity and the defence it provided from Saracen pirates and the
invasion of the Turks. In fact, in 1842 it was marked on nautical charts
as one of the main centres of the high Adriatic. |
| Nowadays, Torre Pedrera is a smiling, tourist resort that forms part of the large area of Romagna where organisation, fun, good food, warmth and hospitality are key features for all those who wish to enjoy a holiday by the sea. You will feel well looked after here and the offices of Torre Pedrera Hotels & Co. will always be on hand for information, advice and your every other need. Furthermore, in Torre Pedrera the ratio between the cost of hotels and the quality of services is without doubt one of the most interesting in Italy. You’ll arrive in Torre Pedrera as a guest but you’ll leave as a friend. | |

CLOSE TO AN ANCIENT HEART... Torre Pedrera doesn’t stop at the sea. In fact, Rimini’s happy coastline offers tourists an extra holiday that is set in the world of the villages and suburbs propped on the hills of the hinterland. This is where nature has been preserved, where time passes peacefully by and where art lives on, to this day, in the ancient castles and parish churches.

In
the centre of Italy and with excellent connections to all of Europe’s
main cities, Rimini is the symbol of, and the ideal place for enjoying,
diversified tourism. Rimini
is ancient and modern, folkloristic and cultural, spectacular and
artisan. The grand master
of Italian cinema, Federico Fellini sang Rimini’s praises,
immortalised it in his films and exported its legend throughout the
world. |

Situated
at 750 metres above sea level is the oldest and smallest Sovereign State
in the world, a state that over the centuries has maintained its freedom
and independence… and you are abroad too! On top of Mount Titano soar the profiles of its three towers Guaita, Cesta and Montale. These are the symbols of a republic that, amongst its many glories, boasts a noteworthy philatelic and numismatic history and tradition, which is greatly appreciated throughout the world. |

A
doorway to the past, a special village that is a pearl in the
Valmarecchia “of the poets”, that’s Santarcangelo!
And it’s here that the poets of the “Circal de giudeizi”
circle meet, along with the movement’s leader, Tonino Guerra. Don’t
miss the Rocca Malatestiana, the Convent of the Capuchins, the 19th
century fish market, the arch and the square dedicated to Pope
Ganganelli. The
“mysterious” tuffaceous caves and the artisan shops selling wrought
iron and rust-printed fabric are also worth visiting. |
This
is a classic ancient village enclosed inside a long city wall where the
imposing and spectacular castle, a superb example of military
architecture, completes the medieval centre. The fortress was completed
by the Malatesta family between 1307 and 1325 and has subsequently
been restored several times. Legend has it that Gradara, the home of the
Malatesta family, was the scene of the tragic love story between Paolo
and Francesca, as immortalised by Dante, “The trembling mouth, kissed
me…” |

In
the heart of the Valmarecchia, on a hill at 600 metres above sea level
sits San Leo, the historical capital of Montefeltro. Apart from the
fortress, the parish church and the Duomo, the village is also worth
noting for the mysterious and fascinating character, the “alchemist”
Count Cagliostro, who was imprisoned in San Leo’s fortress and died
there in 1795. |
The village of Verucchio dominates the splendid panorama of the Valmarecchia. The Rocca fortress, the Collegiata dei Santi Martino e Francesco d’Assisi and the Archaeological Museum are all well worth visiting. |
The entire urban structure of the village is exceptional, above all the Porta Marina and the Porta Montanara gates. The bastioned, Malatesta walls surrounding the medieval centre are particularly beautiful, as are the roads inside these walls with their ancient buildings. Don’t miss the two important events that are held here during the summer, one is “Salus Erbe”, for all those who love to live well and eat naturally and the other is the “Ottocento Festival”. |
The village has numerous aspects that bear witness to a bygone culture and a rural world. The interesting and valued “Museo della Linea Gotica Orientale” (Museum of the Eastern Gothic Line) is well worth visiting. |
This is one of the most intact medieval centres in the entire Rimini area and thanks to recent restoration work; MONTEGRIDOLFO can now boast its entire defensive structure. |
Just a few kilometres from Saludecio is Mondaino. Visit the Rocca Malatestiana, the Convent of the Poor Clare’s, the church of Santa Apollinare and the experimental arboretum, with 2000 examples of Mediterranean flowers. |

One of the most distinctive monuments in the Valconca is the dominant Rocca Malatestiana in Montefiore, a typical example of an imposing, fortified summer residence for the gentry of the period. The Porta Curina gate in the village walls, the 14th century well inside the courtyard and the 15th century frescoes are unmissable, as are the exhibition of contemporary art and the palaeontological collection. |
The most famous sanctuary in the Valle del Conca is at Montefiore and it has been entrusted to the Franciscans. The sanctuary itself dates from 1409, when Ondidei Bonora left the Franciscans a cell that had been frescoed with images of the Madonna suckling Jesus. To this day, the fresco is known as the Madonna di Bonora. |

Torriana is reached by way of Poggi Berni and it’s from here that two embattled towers take pride of place on the cliffs above the village, which hugs the lower Valmarecchia valley. From Torriana, a single road leads to the medieval suburb of Montebello and its splendid fortress. |

Ravenna is the capital of the Roman-Barbarian kingdom of the Goth, Teodorico. It is an unusual and splendid city thanks to its many different architectural sights and above all, the brightness of the colours, the elegance and the extreme sophistication of its mosaics. It is also a city that remarkably preserves the few, existing Arian buildings. |
